Charlotte Boyt – Trustee

Tēnā koutou e ngā mema o te poari,
Ko Charlotte Boyt tōku ingoa. I whakapapa to Te Matau-a-Māui through the Wainohu and Hawkins whānau, and also carry a strong whāngai connection to the Skeet whānau.
Raised in Hawke’s Bay, I was educated at Eskdale School and Sacred Heart College in Napier. After finishing school, I began my working life with the Department of Conservation (DOC), where I served for over nine years in roles ranging from biodiversity ranger to community relations officer and post-treaty settlement liaison. This work took me across Aotearoa – from Te Urewera and Rakiura to Wharekauri (Chatham Islands) – and gifted me the opportunity to engage with small, resilient communities deeply connected to their whenua, wai, and taonga tuku iho. These experiences shaped my values, deepened my understanding of whenua-based identities, and grounded my approach to kaitiakitanga and kaupapa Māori engagement.
I am deeply passionate about toi Māori, cultural revitalisation, and supporting the creative aspirations of our people and local community. With a strong foundation in governance, kaupapa Māori work, and storytelling, and an open approach to keep learning.
