Whether you’re just starting out, looking to grow your existing venture, or exploring fresh opportunities, the 2025 Ngā Toi Creative Hawke’s Bay Entrepreneur Programme is here to support you.
This six-month programme is designed for those in the arts, culture, and creative sectors who are eager to gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate the challenges of starting, growing, or revitalising a business in today’s dynamic environment.
What's On Offer:
- Up to six Half-Day Workshops: Learn essential business skills, from marketing and finance to strategy and personal resilience. Designed to empower you with practical knowledge that you can apply immediately.
- One-on-One Support: Receive tailored guidance from experienced facilitators and coaches who will be there to help you overcome any challenges you face.
- Wrap-Around Pastoral Care: We understand that business can be demanding. That’s why we offer support for your wellbeing throughout the programme, helping you stay balanced and focused.
- Optional Mentoring: Access a business mentor for up to 12 months through Business Mentors NZ for additional support. (Separate registration fee of $339.25 incl. GST applies). www.businessmentors.org.nz

Mentor Programme

Are you an artist or creative looking to grow your practice, develop new skills, or expand your professional network? Or perhaps you’re an experienced mentor eager to share your knowledge and guide the next generation of creative talent?
We are now accepting Expressions of Interest from both Mentors and Mentees. This is your opportunity to be part of an exciting programme designed to build connections, foster growth, and empower creativity in our region.
FOR MENTEES:
The Programme offers you the unique chance to work one-on-one with an experienced mentor who will help you refine your creative practice or guide you through the complexities of growing your arts business. Whether you’re seeking advice on developing your art or building your business, we will match you with the right mentor to meet your needs.
This 10-Month Programme Offers:
- Face-to-face and online (Zoom) mentoring sessions tailored to your needs.
- Personal and professional development plan to map your growth.
- Fee-free access to Ngā Toi 2025 Capability Development Workshops (value-packed learning for your creative journey).
- Free use of creative spaces at Ngā Toi Creative Hubs, including Blank Canvas, Screen Central, and The Art Farm.

This is your chance to give back and share your wealth of knowledge with local creatives. As a mentor, you will guide your Mentee(s) through challenges, offer expert advice, transfer valuable skills, and provide accountability to help them grow to their full potential.
We’re looking for mentors with a diverse range of experience in the arts, business, and creative industries who are ready to make a meaningful impact.
What's Involved:
- Time Commitment: A minimum of 20 hours over 10 months, with flexibility to negotiate timing with your Mentee.
- Compensation: Payment terms will be discussed during the application process.

This dynamic, 10-month leadership programme is designed for experienced leaders, producers, and managers across the Hawke’s Bay region—including Wairoa and Central Hawke’s Bay—who are ready to elevate their leadership skills, build resilience, and help shape the future of our sector.

Workshops & Focus Groups: In addition to the main workshops, you’ll have access to smaller regional focus groups, where you can dig deep into local challenges and solutions, with guidance from experienced mentors.
Ongoing Development: The programme is designed to give you both the tools and the support you need to flourish and grow within the creative sector, leaving you better equipped to navigate the challenges of today’s landscapeWe’re Looking for up to 10 regional leaders across Hawke’s Bay, including Wairoa and Central Hawke’s Bay, who are ready to commit to developing themselves, their leadership, and the creative industries in the region. This is your chance to be part of something bigger—a movement that will shape the future of arts, culture, and creativity in our community.
